some products are released in a more buggy state than the average. People by the millions, who previously did not have the word “issues” in their vocabulary went along with the deception.)) So, they called the problems “issues,” and voila! The problems were no more. ((That, by the way, is how the word “issues” has become a mistakenly used synonym for "problems:" software developers were putting out software full of bugs, and did not want to publish a list of “known problems' because it sounded bad. That said, there are software and hardware products which are released full of bugs. I realize that every recording product out there has been problematic for someone, and more often than not, it is the fault of the user, not the product. Mind you, I haven't laid down any $$$ yet. It's another 50 bucks, but it, like the Scarlett, has an external power supply, which most of the USB 2.0 competitors do not, being buss powered.
SCARLETT 2I2 DRIVER NOT AVAILABLE UPDATE
I really wanted to buy the Scarlett, but I will probably buy the more stable Tascam US 1800, which is an update of the venerable Tascam 1641. I'm a rookie running a laptop i3, and I don't have skills enough to sort out what is buggy and what are my own mistakes. But not being the only company doing so, won't help this product. Mind you, there are only about 7 million companies which put out buggy software, including MS Windows, the king of them all.
SCARLETT 2I2 DRIVER NOT AVAILABLE DRIVERS
Somewhere up the Focusrite ladder, somebody made the executive decision to ship the thing before the drivers were tested enough. However, nobody wants to waste a month of their life setting blood-pressure records over drivers which don't work. Focusrite is well regarded, the Scarlett has a great bundle, a reasonable price, and cool appearance.

There are too many people having problems, and a few Focusrite re-writes of the drivers. I hate to say it, but the Scarlett's driver problems have pretty well put me off the Scarlett and onto the competition.
